C.S. Lewis writes in ๐™ˆ๐™š๐™ง๐™š ๐˜พ๐™๐™ง๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฎ, “Repentance means unlearning all the self-conceit and self-will that we have been training ourselves into…It means killing part of yourself, undergoing a kind of death.”When I came to this realization, I knew I had to unlearn all of the things I had been doing to make it through this life by myself and learn to count on Jesus for everything. I had to let go of every evil habit, wrong thinking, and characteristic that wasn’t God-honoring. He had to increase, and I needed to decrease until the only thing people could see in me was Him. Is there something today that you need to put to death in yourself? Maybe it started as a small secret and now has taken over your life. Or perhaps you have a habit that you haven’t been able to break no matter how hard you try. Take these things to the cross. Pour them out to the Lord. Let them rattle and clang noisily to the ground until the bag you’ve been carrying is empty, and you are free to renew your life in Jesus!
