Do you know why Jesus was sent? Luke 4:42-44 tells us it was to preach the good news of the kingdom of God. I’ve read this repeatedly, but it never really sank in until a pastor spent a Sunday morning camped on this verse. I underlined it and made a note so that every time I read it, I would not forget. Jesus came to preach the good news.
So my question for today is: If we are called to be like Christ, then shouldn’t we try to live in a way that exemplifies the reason Jesus was sent to us? Shouldn’t we be telling everyone the good news about the kingdom of God before it’s too late?
I know the enemy doesn’t want this. He will tell us every lie imaginable, so we feel we are not qualified or ready to share about our Lord or what’s to come.
But the truth is that we don’t have to have all the answers. We can point them to the truth – the Bible. And we don’t have to necessarily go out and tell people anything. All we have to do is love. Love the world as Jesus loved, and they will come to you.
