Did you know that there are 10,005 minutes in one week? That’s not only 7 days, 168 hours, 604,800 seconds, but a whole lot of time. If we have all of this time, why does it feel like we are always behind?
I know there’s a lot to do: deadlines at work, groceries to buy, bills to pay, school sports, homework, errands to run, doctors appointments…the list goes on an on. But when I think about how we move through our fast-paced world, trying to hold onto every minute of the 10,005 that we have, I’m reminded of the story, in Luke 10, about Mary and Martha.”As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me! ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her.'” – Luke 10:38-42
After reading this story, it goes back to choice. Are we going to choose to make time for Jesus, or are we going to allow our schedules to dictate our days? With 10,005 minutes in one week, I’m going to keep Him first, and spend my life living for Him. What about you?
