A red heart sitting on top of an open book.

What is love? First Corinthians 13:4-7 describes it perfectly: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Amen!
When I read these verses, I’m not seeing love as a feeling. I read each word and phrase as an action, something I need to do. And just like everything else in my life, I can’t do these things – I cannot love – without God.
This is why the greatest commandment is this: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39
May we all love in action and follow the words of Jesus – loving God with everything we are!
