Do you know the story of Moses? He was born during a time when the law of Pharaoh stated every Hebrew baby boy born was to be killed. He was taken to the Nile River by his sister, hoping he would be found and spared – which he was, by Pharaoh’s daughter. Moses was raised by her and lived a privileged life as an Egyptian until he saw an Egyptian and Hebrew fighting. Moses killed the Egyptian and fled to the desert in fear for his life. In the desert, Moses met the woman Zipporah, the daughter of Jethro, and married her. Then, one day, when Moses was tending sheep, he saw a burning bush that did not burn up. As Moses approached, God spoke to him. God told Moses that He had seen the misery of His people and was sending Moses to Pharaoh to bring His people out of Egypt. Even though Moses could see the miraculous sign of the burning bush and hear that God had a plan and would be with him, Moses was reluctant to do what God asked. “Who am I? What if I can’t do this? What if?”
Has there ever been a burning bush in your life? We can read this incredible story and see God’s hand in Moses’s life. And yet, He is the same God today–asking us to trust Him and step out in faith. We must remember that if God calls you to something, He will equip you for the task and make a way, no matter what it is. We were born for such a time as this.
