When I first saw this painting by Yongsung Kim called “The Hand of God,” | believed he completely captured how I was feeling for those seventeen years while I had struggled with mental illness. While this picture actually depicts Jesus reaching down for Peter after he got out of the boat, this was my life – every day – struggling to keep my head above water. When I finally realized that all of my efforts would never turn my life around and that it was time to surrender and reach for Jesus – it was as simple as taking His hand. I’m not sure what you’re going through right now, but let me assure you that once upon a time, I tried everything to come up from the darkness. There is only one thing that worked and still works today – and His name is JESUS!
