They can bring love or hatred.
They can tear down or build up.
Do you know how powerful words can be? The Bible tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue and that we should let no corrupting talk come out of our mouths. It tells us that our speech should always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so we may know how to answer each person. It also reminds us that a soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
How are your words? The Bible also tells us that on the day of judgment, people will give account for every careless word they speak. Let us be reminded of how powerful our words are. We have a creative spirit, just like our Father God, and they will not return to us empty. Will they bring life or death? May we choose life and love.
