A bible verse with an image of the word exodus.

When I first read these verses as a child, I remember thinking I would never make or keep an idol in my possession that I would worship – this certainly doesn’t apply to me. But as the years went by, there were several things I looked to instead of God. While they weren’t gold statues, I found myself idolizing money, other’s people’s approval, the ways of the world, and myself.

God knew that we would easily be led astray if we didn’t keep our eyes on Him. So these words are a warning and a reminder of the snare it will be to us to have idols. That God alone is to be worshiped and praised.

Today, take an inventory. Is there anything in your life that you go to before God? It’s never too late to make that correction and only look to Him.
