When we read Mark 4:35-41, Jesus tells the disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” So they got into the boat, and Jesus fell asleep. When the storm came up, the wind blew, and the waves broke over the boat; the disciples were afraid and woke Jesus saying, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” But Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still! Then the wind died down, and the sea was completely calm.”
What stood out to you in this passage? The storm, the fear, or Jesus? What hits me every time I read it is what Jesus says before they even get into the boat: “Let us go over to the other side.” These words can give us confidence in His great plans and that we will get across. It doesn’t mean storms won’t come. But when we have Jesus in our boat, we have nothing to fear!
Are you going through a storm today? Make sure Jesus is in your boat, and trust that you will get to the other side! Amen.
