A manger scene with the word luke 2 : 7 written on it.

“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.” – Luke 2:7

After reading this verse, sometimes I think our hearts are like the inn Mary and Joseph went to – there is no room. So when I think about receiving the gift of Jesus this year and everything He wants to give us, I ask myself, how do we make room? Before we can receive everything Jesus has for us, we must let go of whatever’s taking up space in our hearts. Maybe that’s pride; perhaps there’s a misconception about God we’ve been carrying for far too long. It could be unforgiveness towards a person or a situation. Whatever it is, it’s stopping us from fully receiving the gift of Immanuel: God with us. Let’s prepare this season by opening our hearts, surrendering the brokenness we are holding onto, and making room for Jesus. Isn’t it time?
