A red heart with stitches on it and the words " he heals the broken hearted ".

When you read Matthew 1:1-16, you’ll see a stunning example of how God weaves lives together for His glory. The writer, Matthew, is very intentional in writing out Jesus’ genealogy, listing name after name, representing story after story how God can use broken people. Each one had made mistakes and had sinned and fallen short, but even then, God was restoring them to show that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

There were 14 generations in all from Abraham to David, 14 from David to the exile to Babylon, and 14 from the exile to Jesus. Perfection.

Today, look back and see the restoration in your past. Look and see how God is doing something new. And if you can’t see it in your past, maybe He is just getting started with you.
