Scars. We all have them. There are the physical ones, like when my Uncle’s motorcycle fell over on me and left a mark on my ankle. I have one on my wrist where they removed a cyst. And the one on my abdomen where they went in for laparoscopy surgery. These can be seen, just like yours. But what about the scars we cannot see: words that wounded, a betrayal that sliced deep, and heartache that left you bleeding on the table?Sometimes these are less like scars and more like wounds that never heal. They reopen when navigating new relationships, moving through seasons, and occasionally interrupting our daily lives. I struggled like this for years until I stopped focusing on my wounds and scars and focused on Jesus’. Isaiah 53:5 tells us that “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” By His wounds, I am healed! You are healed! And because of this, we can live in freedom, no longer wounded and bleeding by the world but spotless, blameless, and free. Are you ready to experience this kind of life? All you have to do is look to Jesus! Hallelujah!
