A research article published at Duke University in 2006 found that more than 40% of the actions that people perform every day are out of habits and not because the person makes a decision about it. When I read this, I could see some of my decisions based on patterns I formed. But here’s the question – what kind of “habits” are we doing daily? And are they life-giving? It can be easy to fall into a routine and go through the motions – traveling the same road every day. But if we’re not intentional with our decisions, carefully navigating each step – making sure our lives are aligned with God’s Word and the plans that He has for us – we could lose ourselves.
Our focus should be taking up our cross daily and following Jesus – embracing the gift He has given us, not swimming through our lives out of habit. May we all remember today God’s great plans for us and truly live!
