“In the beginning . . .” Do you remember your beginning? Maybe it was the beginning of your marriage and all the promises you held onto. Or the beginning of your family and your new role as a mom or dad. Maybe it was the beginning of illness or a season of life where all you experienced was loss. Beginnings can hold promise and pain, joy, and sorrow.
But when God begins something, he will continue His work until it is finally finished. He started with Jesus, and it will end with Jesus. And to prove that, in the middle, He built a cross. The cross represents the promise that if we believe that Jesus died for us to save us from our sins, we will have eternal life. No matter our beginning, our end will be in Heaven.
