Looking back, I remember the time in my life when I first learned to trust that the Lord would provide. Back in 2007, I was laid off, and so was my ex-husband. The support he had been giving me all but stopped, and unemployment took forever to come. This was my first test of believing that God would take care of myself and my children, with even the basic necessities like food and paying the heat and electric bills. Besides getting food from the church and helping with paying my bills, some people would randomly stop by with groceries just at the right time. The love I felt was overwhelming, and I knew that no matter what, God would provide. I needed to let go of how I thought it should be and trust in the way it was. Are you worrying today? It’s time to depend on the Lord and have confidence in Him alone.

Jesus said, “‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?'” (Matthew 6:25–27).
